long time since last update

It's been a very long time since I updated my site news, I guess I have had a little less time to do things now.

I've been writing on the GUID list off and on for a long time and it turned out to be quite a hit. Lots of visitors, every day.

The GUID list collects player GUIDs from servers who run the GUID parser I wrote. New is a "online GUID parser", which lets admins parse their servers without having to set up any scripts at all.

At last Maria and I bought a new TV, my old TV was so big it would have costed me a fortune to move it here to Stockholm.
The new TV is even bigger but it's not as heavy as the old one. More plastic I guess.
The Xbox rocks on a big screen with a DD/DTS system. Soon I will get the two force feedback wheels I've ordered. I think I've got all the driving games on market. So I'm just waiting for those wheels.
Did I mention the Xbox is the perfect multi media station? It handles ALL the file formats I've seen, both audio and video. It also plays regular CDs, VCDs and DVDs.

I've been playing Urban Terror alot but now the summer is here and I don't play as often. Our clan [runDMC] has gone into hibernation and I think we're all just waiting for the Urban Terror for Enemy Territory to be released. I do hope all the annoying bugs will be gone by then.

Ok, we'll see how long it will take until the next time I will update these news.

Soon I've done everything that has to be done before I move.

Work papers and apartment papers are done and Maria has done a time plan for the actual move.

Bought a XBOX this weekend. It's really cool, it plays games, movies, music etc.. Media can be streamed from a PC as it uses the TCP/IP protocol.
Hope the kids will like it. =)

Update 031110> Bought a 120GB hard drive to the XBOX.
Update 031213> Bought a DVD remote and a 5.1 outlet.

Vacation

Much have happen since I really sat down and wrote some.

I have had three weeks of my vacation with Maria and her kids.
Started out with "American Car Show" in Norrtälje. As usual my eyes must have shined when walking by the cars. Corvettes, Mustangs, well.. you know...
At the end of the show (day) most of the muscle cars cruised up and down a hill, burning so much rubber that Maria wants a Shelby GT500. But I think a Mustang Mach I would be enough. =)
Maria loves the sound of a =>351 cui engine on a Mustang and she thinks Corvettes are too silly, no cool sound and you can't burn rubber with them.
Hmm... I happen to disagree. :/

We drove to Kålmården and watched the dolphins, the tigers, the giraffes, the everything... Maria's kids liked it alot. I did too ofcourse. =)
We've been sunbathing and taking a few dips most of the vacation. It's been too hot to do anything. I was sick for a few days too, fever. We visited Marias grandmother and we did alot of other things.

On the release day of Urban Terror 3 we had a little LAN at my place. Maria, Tomas, Hasse and me sat very tightly together in my livingroom. It was alot of fun, but we had miscalculated the release time with 10 hours and it was delayed another 4-5 hours. On the morning we watched a race on Södra berget. Tomas was very disappointed with the cars. =) hehe

Yesterday, me and Hasse went to a cruising in Fränsta. My estimate is 40-50 cars, some cars were nice and some were very... hm, let's say.. used or in need of a polish. =)
I drove my parents Camaro Z28 '95 which was awesome. Burning rubber and cruising around listening to V8's. Wheels magazine attended and they took a few pictures, for the magazine I believe.

Maria has put together a file which removes the msblast.exe virus and patches the computer. Quick and easy.

I have been in Stockholm for a few weeks and I got home yesterday. Some days ago a switch had burned, I've now ordered a new switch and two new HDDs for my RAID 0+1.

The domain will be fully restored as soon as I get the new switch, shouldn't take more than 1-2 days. Web- and mail servers are running normally though.

ZZ-Top

ZZ-Top played at Gatufesten here in Sundsvall this last weekend. Me, Hasse, Jonta, Daniel and Anna had a few drinks at my place and then we went down to Gatufesten. I think it was the biggest crowd ever here on Gatufesten, it was almost impossible to move anywhere.

It makes me feel like I should break my Les Paul on my knee when I see Billy Gibbons play. All those little things he did was perfect.

My most good looking visitor turned the visitor counter to 16.000 for a few days ago.

Thank you Jonta for letting me use your car. =)

I can tell you that yesterday Maria and I went to the shop to return some bottles.
We both felt very ashamed when we fed the machines with bottles, we felt ashamed because of the amount of bottles we brought (approx. 135-140 PET bottles). They used exacly all of the space in the car. :)).

Well, next time I hope I don't wait as long as I did this time.

Ok, now you've read some totally unusable information. The Internet has got alot of it. =)

At home, drawing pictures of mountain tops, with him on top.
Lemon yellow sun, arms raised in a V. Dead lay in pools of maroon below.
Daddy didn't give attention, to the fact that mommy didn't care.
King Jeremy the wicked, ruled his world.
Jeremy spoke in class today

Clearly I remember pickin' on the boy, seemed a harmless little fuck.
But we unleashed a lion, gnashed his teeth and bit the recessed lady's breast.
How could I forget?
he hit me with a surprise left, my jaw left hurtin', dropped wide open, like the day, like the day I heard.
Daddy didn't give affection and the boy was something mommy wouldn't wear.
King Jeremy the wicked, ruled his world.

Now I am sitting at Daniel's place and having some beer. We are going to Ånge, a place in the middle of nowhere, to watch some soft ball.

Caller ID

I'm now done with the Caller ID application I've been writing for a few days now.

It basically remains in the tray and monitors the phoneline for calls. On an incoming call the application stores the Caller ID and time/date in a database and it optionally displays the number on the screen.

I don't know if I'm going to release this as it must be used with PowerBit/Surfinbird modems (PowerBit/Surfinbird are the only modems that works with the european DTFM standards).
This application is useless with other modems.

http://www.intertex.se
http://www.surfinbird.nu

If people will show interest in the application I will probably make a public release.

<i>looking back on the memory ...

looking back on the memory of
the dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
for a moment all the world was right
how could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

and now I'm glad I didn't know
the way it all would end the way it all would go
our lives are better left to change I could have missed the pain
but I'd of had to miss the dance

holding you I held everything
for a moment wasn't I a king
but if I'd only known how the king would fall
hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all

and now I'm glad I didn't know
the way it all would end the way it all would go
our lives are better left to change I could have missed the pain
but I'd of had to miss the dance

The one that I care the most about thinks I don't understand her. Maybe I don't, but that's not something I have planned or I intended to do.
She gives me some clues here and there but I don't seem to able to put those little clues together.

Sometimes I'm thinking of painting my nails, put on mascara and a wonderbra, force myself into a pair of nylons, drink a bottle of wine and then I step into the bath tub with a blow dryer. Maybe I also would know what women want.

I guess I'll never know.

There is this guy who won't give up.
Does he even know he destroys peoples lives including his own?
Does he know how to stop?

Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel like my only friend
Is the city I live in, the city of angels
Lonely as I am, together we cry

I drive on her streets cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds and she kisses me windy
I never worry, now that is a lie.

new job - web developer

Today I got it confirmed. We had a four hour meeting today where everyone at SDC attended. After a few hours my new boss said that "It is now confirmed that Dennis will start working with us at the 1:st of march.". I was very surprised. =)

Then I'll be a web developer. I will still work for the same company, but on a different floor.
As a web developer I will mainly build corporate web applications and sites.

Thank you Adde, Tobbe, Tomas and all the others for helping me, especially Maria for helping me with the most essential part. =)

Today it's the 19:th of december, which makes it five days until christmas eve. So, have you sent your letters to santa?
Let's just hope you've been nice. =)

Today I have renewed my domain name for another five years. The expiration date is now january 10:th 2008.

Have I told you that this site has existed for over five years now? Well, in a month the domain namn has been active for five years too.

This weekend I wrote a tool for bulk importing images to the photo gallery. It also makes thumbnails automatically.

I don't know what the future looks like.
From now on I have decided to take one step at the time.

hacked ICQ

Yesterday when I was remotely helping my brother with his computer someone was trying to hack my brother's ICQ number.

It started with a messagebox that said: "Your ICQ number is being used be another computer.". I reconnected and after a few seconds I got the same message again, I reconnected over and over again.
I was able to change the password, but as the hacker had hacked my brother's e-mail, he simply requested the password from ICQ.
We changed the password on the mailbox, managed to exeed the maximum number of times you are permitted to logon which locked the account for some time. We kept it locked for a few hours and then when the hacker didn't know it we stopped trying to logon and waited a few minutes and then we once again tried to logon. Now he has changed the password and e-mail on ICQ.

I can tell you that his nick/name is Islem.

my weekend

Yesterday Jonta and I drove my powerful AX14 (with a broken head gasket) to Ville's and Andreas' house and had some crayfish. The crayfish tasted quite good, but as usual it's nothing you can satisfy your hunger with. Later that evening we drove to "Drakbåtsfestivalen" and had a few cold ones. We met some friends which we later followed to Oscar. We didn't do much except drinking some more beer and sat talking.

On friday evening and yesterday morning me and Daniel configured their new server at Wildland Fire International AB. It's a bit tricky to set up an Active Directory, but we managed to get it to run after some hard work.

Today Hasse and I drove to Tynderö where his girlfriend and some others were.
We got wet and tanned. We dived some too.

same ole me

With time my face has wrinkled but my blue eyes still sparkle
With the love I felt for you the day we met
To me you're just as lovely as the first time I saw you
Times have changed but our hearts haven't yet
I'm still the same ole me loving the same sweet you time hasn't withered our hearts
And when our days are through I'll still be loving you even death can't keep us apart

These hands that once were steady have now begun to tremble
But when they touch you the same old feeling's there
But your smile is still as special as it was the day we married
Years haven't changed the love we share
If I go before you to my home on high
I'm still the same ole me...
I'm still the same ole me loving the same sweet you

do you care?

People don't seem to care... people don't even intend to care... why should they?
If people cared about the right things, there would be no troubles, right?

People try to care about the right things and still things tend to go wrong. Why?
Well, I surely don't know why. If I did, I wouldn't be writing this right now.
I'm confused. I really don't know if there is any point writing this. Is there a point?
To whom am I writing? What for? Does it make me feel better? Do I make anyone else feel better? Who cares? Does anyone really care at all?

Should I care?
Should I care less?

R/C, cruising, boxing...

Yesterday was very interesting, first of all I woke up on my two seated sofa, laying on my stomach and Daniel http://hemsidor.torget.se/users/k/Kada/index.html was on the other sofa. We fell asleep there when we got home on friday after we have had some refreshments downtown.

Ok, we woke up and a friend of mine called me and said that they were "driving" their R/C cars and wanted us to come. After an hour we were on our way; first of all I was driving the wrong direction for atleast 10 km, when I realized I was going the wrong way my car was overheated ('cause of the hot weather, I hope). We went back home to get Daniel's car and we took off once again.

At the R/C track people were "driving" aeroplanes, helicopters, jet driven planes and all sorts of R/C cars. I almost destroyed my friends R/C's, pretty ashamed of that. :(

http://www.rcracing.nu

There was this small contest of (what I think they were called) mini-z, very small electric-driven R/C's. Impossible to steer and they were way too fast for their size.

Also at the track was a Ford Mustang Cobra ~'00 and a Porsche 928 ~'83. :)

On our way back to the city we realized there was a cruising in the city.

Corvettes, Mustangs, Chevelles, Impalas, Chargers, GTO's and Camaros were some of the cars that we saw at the cruising.
There were also european cars such as Porsches, BMWs and others.
Personally I think the american cars is more attractive.

I talked to the owner of one of the Corvettes. It was a dark blue '87 convertible with a 350TPI/700 and it had a Greenwood tail wing. He also said that it was for sale, he wants ~$14.000 for it.
I was offered a ride with his wife as the owner wasn't in a good condition to drive.
As I had seen her burning rubber an half an hour earlier I knew that she wouldn't drive like a whimp. My friends said that I had a BIG smile on my face when we drove off.
I have to say that she didn't go easy on the pedal. :))

Later when we got back I sat down in the narrow cockpit :) and fired it up. Nice feeling when the 350 started, shaking the whole car.

We drove to a friend of my friend to watch the fight between Tyson and Lewis.
I was SOO tired, but I stayed and watch the fight anyway. I came home at 6 AM.

I GOT TO HAVE A CORVETTE.
I need $14.000. Anyone!?

my uncle's wedding

Yesterday my and my whole family attended at my uncle's wedding. It was a nice wedding and it was fun to talk to all the relatives. My grandma is VERY funny, especially after a few drinks. :)
The marriged couple's kids was so cool and fun. :)

On our way my brother drove my mom and grandma and I drove my dad.
After a while when I was driving 10-20 km too fast there was this Audi turbo 4.2 liters that came up from behind. I did a kick down and he disappeared in the back mirror. After a while I slowed down and this Audi came up once more in the back mirror. I was driving 70km/h and I let him pass. A few minutes later I once more made a kick down and followed the Audi which by the way was out of sight. In less than a minute I had catched up on him. I think he got stressed out 'cause he drove over 200 km/h where the road was very curvy, he nearly lost the grip entirely to the road.

Later we came into a village and I think he was very stressed or maybe he got blinded by the speed, 'cause he still went through the village in over 160 km/h.

My dad and I stopped at the local kiosk for something to drink.
We noticed that the kiosk was closed and we continued driving and then we saw the Audi which was parked at the other side of the road, the driver had to have a look at us (as he wanted to see the car or the driver). My dad and I just laughed at him. :)

I think he wasn't prepared for a car that was faster than his.
I just love this Camaro.

Arbetsrock and Laserhall

On friday we played at "Arbetsrock", we didn't win the contest but it was really fun.
Later that evening I played once more but I was way to drunk to play. :(

Yesterday my Urban Terror clan visited the LaserHall. We geared up with a sensor suit and a lasergun and ran around in the dark and tried to hit each other.
It was very fun but personally I think the gear didn't work as good as they should. As there were no sensors at the head nor the lower body/legs you couldn't shoot the enemy in the head for example.
And the only thing the enemy did show was the head. Therefore I think Paintball will be better as it hurts when you get hit.
Later that evening we went out for some pizza and some more beer. Visited a few bars too.
I hope we can get together again soon and play some Paintball. Polish your PSG-1 and H&K G36E. It's time for war.

I must say that not much is happening right now. I work and sleep, but that's what I want. I guess I will get into this in a few weeks.
There's a lot of the stuff at work I have never even heard of. Like VIOL! VIOL is an application specially written for this company. I think we've developed it ourself too. Well, I guess I'll get to know this program too in a while.

This weekend I have been visiting my mom and dad. Ofcourse I took a spin in their new Camaro, awsome car. Does a 180 in just one pedal move :) and two long black marks in the pavement in the next. I just love big engines. :))
If I only had the money to buy a Corvette or a Mustang or similar.

Today I looked at a new apartment that I probably will move into if everything goes right and the price tag isn't too high. The new apartment is in the same building as the one I currently live in.

I found a PowerBit modem at work and I'm using it for caller identification. Pretty cool. Now I won't even have to get up to see who's calling.

...I was at Ville & Ante's place. On friday we didn't do much, ate some and watched some TV. On saturday we woke up early and drove off to the lake near by. There was a fishing contest and we sat in the sun whole day and drank some beer. A perfect day except for the thing that we didn't get any fish at all. :(
Well, later that evening I decided to stay another night 'cause of the drinking. "Don't drink and drive."
Woke up an hour ago and ate some breakfast and drove home. :)

Gibson EDS-1275 is another guitar that I want to have. It's a double neck (twelve and six string), you can take a look at it if you click the link below. This guitar has a very heavy and clean sound, I would think it's because of the huge body.

About Urban Terror and cheating

Why does everyone accuse you for cheating when you do a good round. The only thing they have to do is spectate you while you're playing and they'll see that you're not.

I hate that. :(

This screenshot is from a round where this thing happend.

I just have one thing to say to those people; play better.
If you don't like it, quit playing.

This evening me and my friends at my old job recorded two songs.
These songs are going to be in a contest for all the companies around here. I think we did 3-4 retakes before we got it right. One rule was that you weren't allowed to do a "punch in", so you'd have to get the whole song right at once.

C64 & Amiga nostalgia

I browsed through some C64 and Amiga pages today. I found lots of those good sid files I used to hear almost 20 years ago. While listening to the sids I remembered the best Amiga demo ever made; Enigma by Phenomena which was released in march 91 at the Easter Party 91. The coder, Azatoth, shocked the whole world with his creation.
The demo was ofcourse ranked 1st place at the contest. I found the original mod file which I have now converted to the mp3 format.
The mod file is 192 KB while the mp3 file is 7.76 MB. I didn't go cheap with the quality. :))

Now I see the importance of writing lots of remarks, which lets me recognize my own code.

What if I could use a Celeron 2 800Mhz on my current mainboard. Celeron 2 800Mhz is the first Celeron processor which uses the 100MHz FSB, this makes it a little bit faster than the "old" Celeron 2. Ofcourse you say; it does have a higher CPU core speed, duh! Well, it's become even faster with the higher FSB. Right now you can buy a Celeron 2 800MHz and an CPU-socket adapter (FCPGA -> SLOT1) for approx. $200.
Maybe I can afford one next month.

SCSI systems

IDE was stoneage even when it was developed. What if SCSI devices wouldn't cost a fortune. Right now it's mostly servers and hi-end workstations that uses SCSI systems, RAID or just single drives. SCSI systems doesn't use as much CPU time as IDE systems, that is the major advantage. IDE has other advantages like compability and price. Intel and other processor manufacturers are developing faster and faster processors. The biggest problem is when the interface for CD-ROM, DVD and harddrives are getting faster, the more CPU time it will use. As for SCSI it's not a noticeable change. Games, websurfing, database handling, program developing and a whole lot of other things will be sped up if you use SCSI.
OK, what I'm trying to say here is, bring us cheaper SCSI devices.

What is it with these monitors

I have now recieved my fifth ADI MicroScan 6P monitor. They doesn't seem to last. The OSD isn't working on this one which means I can't configure the position and size of the screen. The USB hub at the back doesn't work either. I have to call them again and tell them to send me a new one for the sixth time. I have had different problems with each one of them; flickering display, huge convergenceproblems, fuzzy display, totally blackness etc..
I think ADI has big problems with their monitors. The image quality is good but the functionality is poor.

Back from Bulgaria

OK, what can I say. I got tanned, a beerbelly and some bleached clothes. I tried out most of the Bulgarian beers, some of them had both strange names and taste. Most of them tasted like urine, not that I've ever been drinking urine, but I think it tastes like that. After lots of beerdrinking I declare Astika the winner as the best Bulgarian beer.
Ted was staying in Albena, 120 km from Sunny Beach. A taxitrip would cost me approx. 80-90 Leva's ($40-45). That isn't so very much money but I had to get back too. I don't think it's worth $80-90 for just the transportation. So we agreed to fix us a little gathering when we got home.
My cellphone worked ok. I was disappointed that the Caller ID service didn't work as it should, just one call told the number. When SMS:ing it worked ok though (it doesn't work the same way. I think the phonenumber is included in the actual SMS). I also found two Internet Cafe's but I managed not to go in there. It would have been cool to update this newspage while I was in Bulgaria.
"Iceberg" was the place to be... they sometimes played good music, but they played much ABBA and Gyllene Tider. Do they think we listen to this at home????? Ehh, NOOO.... OK, as I said; some of the music was good.
English... well, let's put it this way; do you say anything else than beer, taxi, NO or any sentence that contains ONE word, they won't understand you. I had some problems with that, I usually get people to understand me. Anyone who has been there knows what I'm talking about when I say; "Kirchen, Banana bitte", "Icecream please" or "boat going to Nessebar". hehe, I also liked to listen to all the people at the Karaoke Bar at Hotel Orion. I didn't think that people would embarrass themselves like that.

Trip to Bulgaria

Tomorrow I'll go to Sunny Beach, Bulgaria for two weeks. I've heard that beer is very cheap down there, so my plans are to drink alot of it. :)

Ted, an old friend of mine is also going to Bulgaria these very two weeks. I called him last week and asked if we could meet. Well, we'll both take our cellulars with us. Hopefully I will find him there. To get around I will hire a motorcycle, they don't have the same restrictions as we have. That's good I think, because I don't have the drivers license for motorcycles. Renting a car is going to take too much time, besides I think I rather drive a bike in such warm weather.
I called my telephone company and asked how much it would cost me to use the cellular while I'm there. They said; $0.20 + $1.81 per minute to call and $0.44 per minute to receive calls. OK, anyway... I'll be back at the 10:th of june. Hopefully with a tan.

This morning when I was going to work I started my car and noticed the fuelgauge was on EMPTY although I refueled my car yesterday. I stepped out of the car and looked a little closer where the fueldoor is. I saw a dark spot at the ground and the fuelcap was missing. Someone had taken about 25-30 litres of gas from me. I barely got to the gas station. I didn't find the fuelcap anywhere near the car so I'm currently driving without one.

hmm... I bought a new racing wheel and a new modem today. Diamond SupraMax 56e <USB> is the modem I bought. I wrote before that I did order a SupraExpress, but that modem is somehow called SupraMax here in Sweden (stupid).

Why can't the swedish Internet providers have flatrate??? Most countries has it, why not Sweden? I hope I will get an ADSL in Sundsvall soon, but with ADSL I have to pay per downloaded Mb. Well anyway, I would be able to be online all the time. :) If I don't get ADSL I will probably sign up with Tele2.

Now has one of my friends's (Henrik Svensson) harddrives has crashed too, where's this world going to? His 8 gigs IBM drive just stopped working today when we were having a little LAN. :( Well, we managed to salvage his data and stored them on my drive (which is beginning to get full :))).

LAN

15/1 to 17/1 - Me and my friends had ourselves a little LAN-party. I think the most of the time we were playing Quake, who got a new name during the LAN, namely; Quagge :))... I think I was the only one with a Pentium, all the others had at least a 350 MHz Pentium II. I'll have to buy a new computer really soon, but there are some other things I need before that, like a new harddrive, 100/10 Mbits NIC and a printer. I would like to have another display adapter and monitor for dual monitor feature, because the desktop does not have enough space (I'm running my desktop @ 1600×1200). Click here to see the difference between the resolutions. The additional monitor doesn't have to be a expensive one, it just have to work in 1280×1024 and it would be nice if it was 15" or above.

I recently saw my pages on a slow computer and noticed that the big Shockwave Flash scenes are very slow on older (slower) machines. :) But if you do have a fast computer don't skip it, it's quite cool. BTW it runs smoothly on my P200MMX. (note: I you choose "GO FLASH" and you don't have the Shockwave Flash plug-in, it will still self-install it)
